Tori Kopke, is a small business coach based on her family farm in the Wheatbelt of Western Australia. She loves to help business owners discover realistic and achievable growth solutions- especially businesses out in the bush. Using her unique (and extremely fun) approach of proven strategies, crazy goal setting, and crystal clear strategy, she works with business to achieve new levels of success.

Tell us a bit about your business

I work with rural business women to achieve new levels of success through my 1:1 and group coaching programs, as well as my signature business community- Big Ideas Rural.

What is #mumbition to you?

We can have it all- we just get to decide what that looks like! I think too often people assume that our success is hamstrung by motherhood- which couldn’t be further from the truth. Being a mum has made me more ambitious, but undoubtedly more creative in my approach to my own business.

What is it that makes you want to get out of bed in the morning?

I absolutely love seeing other businesses thrive and grow. I know the impact that I have on rural businesses goes on to have a greater impact that means improved economic capacity and sustainability for rural areas. Plus I have a pretty cool three year old that would find mum staying in bed unacceptable- we have motorbikes to ride and dinosaurs to hunt.

What are you looking forward to at the Be MPowered Conference 2021?

I am rurally located, so big conferences and events are non existent to me unless they are virtual. The speaker line up could not get me more excited!

What makes the topic you are talking about at Be MPowered important to small biz owners right now?

Sales are THE thing that can grow a business, but too often I see women crippled by the confidence to put themselves out there and are haunted by icky used car salesman feelings. I believe selling with soul is the solution to taking away those bad vibes and working towards greater sustainability and business continuity.

What makes you an expert in your field?

Small business is my jam. I have worked with hundreds of small businesses across Australia (and if you follow me on socials- you know I love to bang on about the importance of selling!).

How do you harmonise your ambition, livelihood and wellbeing?

The non sexy answer- I schedule it. If it is in my diary then it is happening. I also hire help. To help me stay on track with ambition and growth, I’ve got a business coach and few amazing team members. To help me stay focused on my health, I have a fantastic naturopath and personal trainer. On the home front, I could not manage without my cleaner.

What advice would you give anyone starting a small business?

Done is better than perfect, get started and embrace massive imperfect action.

How do you relax when you are not working?

I love reading, it is without a doubt my favourite past time.

Give us an interesting fact about you that not many people know

I wanted to be a petroleum engineer growing up, couldn't imagine a less suitable role for me!

What is your favourite productivity hack?

Time blocking. It really helps me chew through tasks. But also setting certain “ongoing” tasks on certain days. Every Friday is an admin day for me- this makes those admin tasks actually happen!

What are you a superstar at?

Outside of business- meal prepping and managing a busy farm kitchen. During peak times I can feed up to 5 men and our family often across 4-6 meal times. But it is also about making sure we have a well stocked pantry and fridge, town trips are not a daily option for me!

What do you suck at doing?

Laundry. Housekeeping in general. Really cleaning up the mess I make in the kitchen!

What are you currently bingeing on Netflix?

Just finished binging the Last Kingdom, who knows what I am going to jump into next.

Anything else you would like to add...

Really excited to be a part of this conference!
