This I have learnt!

But there are few things more magical than that moment when the day arrives and you watch everything come together -  and Be MPowered 2022 (Mums & Co's conference for business owning women) was no exception to this rule!

Our 4th birthday

This year marked Mums & Co's 4th Be MPowered event and our second hybrid conference - a truly phenomenal way to cut through the myriad of time and geography restraints faced by many of our community to ensure you could be part of the program, networking and connection from absolutely anywhere! 

From my vantage point behind the lectern at the Sydney Hub hosted by Flippa, was a sea of friendly faces and the delightful hubbub that comes from like-minded women connecting; an infectious, warm and inspiring energy that jumped its way across the screen to our brilliant digital attendees. We had tea and cake in Albury, mindful stretches between sessions in Dubbo and were joined by our dynamic Mums & Co community all over Australia (from NSW, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory) and the world, including Texas, Singapore and India!

We upskilled!

After a collective cup of hot tea and coffee, we started our 4th Be Powered conference with two bespoke and powerful Welcome To Country ceremonies, in person led by Aunty Margret Campbell and virtually led by Aunty Cheryl Penrith. 

Founder of Collective Courage, Anna Ranaldo, a Certified Dare to Lead™ Facilitator (CDTLF) kicked off the day by writing us a collective permission slip to be courageous - and what a treat to have Dr Brené Brown on the screen!  Money mindset coach Julia Scott wowed us with intuitive financial insights - reminding us that ultimately it is our self-belief that defines our financial success.

Hosts of successful podcast Life Admin Life Hacks Dinah Rowe Roberts and Mia Northrop eased our life admin woes with their workshop. With their practical workbook in-hand we made a plan on the page for how to tackle that seemingly endless list of to-dos. While the effervescent Jane Hillsdon of Dragonfly Marketing and the How To Do Marketing podcast stripped back the layers of marketing complexity - reminding us of the power of outcome rather than process when it comes to making marketing impact.

While cyber awareness, business security and insurance was the theme that rounded out the day with Carrie Kwan, NRMA Insurance and RACV Business Insurance Matt Bennett and Upguard’s Jackie Ariston’s risk and resilience panel - a lively and informative chat that resounded with many.

As Mums & Co Co-Founder, Carrie Kwan shared in her welcome address, networking is one of the most important skills you can learn as a business owning woman. 

We supported this year’s attendees to make at least two new connections was a key aim of this year’s Be MPowered and we’ve been delighted to hear your feedback on the connections you made both in the room, on the digital event space and also via the Mums & Co platform. We’ve made nearly 700 connections via networking and Mums & Co business introductions feature. We can’t wait to hear what potential solutions and business collaborations these connections reveal as the year rolls on.
